Day 1: Arrival at Kigali Aiprot and transfer to Goma
Our driver guide will pick you up and take you to Mikeno Lodge at Rumangabo in DRC after you arrive at the Kigali International Airport. The drive journey of about 3-4 hours minus stopovers to Mikeno lodge in Virunga National Park will take you through magnificent landscape sceneries venerated with the unique natural settings and local populations. Upon arrival, you will proceed to the hotel so that you check in, have a meal and spend a night.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park
After having a peaceful breakfast, you will be driven to the Bukima park station in the Virunga National Park, where trekkers gather by 7:00 am to be given a gorilla group to trek with, and then you will be briefed about how to conduct yourself while with the gorilla families. After the briefing, you will continue to start the trek to face up to the gorilla group you are to trek. The distance of the trek changes based on the whereabouts of these gorillas and also the weather conditions. Seeing these mild giants in their natural environment is an exclusive and incredible experience. After, you can then return back to your lodge for a late meal and leisure.

Day 3: Nyiragongo Volcano Hiking
After breakfast, take on a 30 km drive from Mikeno lodge to Kibat Patrol station in Nyiragongo Volcano. From there the park rangers will guide you and your porters on a hike to the top of the Nyiragongo Volcano. Hiking this volcano will take about 4-6 hours till you reach the peak of the world’s most lively volcano. The way to the summit is somewhat easy although a bit tiring, often hot and in an uncomfortable state. Along the journey, you will enjoy amazing sights and views of rare birds and undersized mammal groups. On reaching the peak, you will enjoy the view of the lakes of boiling lava and get to relax at the peak of this volcano. You will spend a night in the tents on the edge of the huge crater, elevated above the dynamic lava lake.
Day 4: Descend from Nyiragongo Volcano and transfer to Kigali
After you are through with your untimely breakfast, you then at 7:00 am begin descending from the peak of Nyiragongo to Kibat Patrol Post. Arrival at the track head is before lunch and then they head back to the lodge to have a meal and also to relax. After lunch, embark on a journey from the Mikeno lodge to Kigali City. In Kigali, the driver will take you to your Kigali lodge or drop you at Kanombe Airport for your scheduled flight back home which marks the end of your safari.
