Gorillas permit in Uganda , Mountain Gorillas scientifically known as Gorilla beringei are Uganda’s most selling attraction, they weigh up to 300 to485 pounds and 4 to 6 feet tall with a life span of up to 50 years of age ,they love living in thick forests  and bamboo on mountain peaks , Uganda  hosts half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas 502 as per may 2018 IUCN statistic on the worlds gorilla population, the dense forest of Bwindi impenetrable national park and Mgahinga national park are natural habitats for the primates , they don’t live in captivity. The rest of the population happens to be in Rwanda and the democratic republic of Congo neighboring states.

Tracking takes place in Bwindi impenetrable national park where these majestic creatures are free to roam, they have been habituated for the gorilla experience and this takes place in four regions of the park, Buhoma, Ruhija, Nkuringo, and rushaga with different families in each sector. Mgahinga national park has only one mobile gorilla family (Nyakagezi) that can be tracked around Ntebeko.

The Uganda wildlife authority (UWA) allocates gorilla permits for every family to be tracked in groups of 15 per day, they set out prices to purchase the permit, the company has announced that the tariff for tracking Gorillas permit in Uganda in two parks will be raised from 600US dollars to 700 US dollars in 2020 while for chimpanzee tracking will be at $200 for one hours tracking in Kibale Forest National, Habituation price will remain the unchanged in beginning of first of July the high increment of the permit in the neighboring  country has led to increased number of visitors in Uganda during the peak seasons that want to track gorillas in Uganda in fact one would have a trip to the neighboring country and prefer to track in Uganda  only.

Besides the mountain gorillas, Uganda is home to 15 more primate species including the chimpanzee and golden monkeys, it counts the big five buffaloes, elephants, rhinos, lion, leopards and many more animal species found in its 10 national parks.

Bwindi impenetrable national park and Mgahinga can be accessed by road through beautiful hills of kigezi, farm lands, tea plantations and small towns, chatter flights can be organized from Entebbe or Kampala kajansi to the airfield in Kisoro or kihihi. Accommodation is available at the destination ranging from budget to luxury for example Buhoma lodge, silver back lodge, Rushaga gorilla camp, Ichumbi lodge, Ruhija safari lodge, among others.
