Facts about Murchison falls National Park, its Ugandans largest protected conservation area placed in the Northwestern part of Uganda in Nwoya district, it’s the first and oldest conservation area gazette in 1926, declaring it a National Park by the 1952, the angelic area stretches 3840 square kilometers along the floor of the great Albertine rift valley divided into two by the Victoria Nile traveling through it from east to west falling off a rock cleft of 7 meters wide forming the great Murchison falls.  It  Was called the Kabalega national park during the ,reign of Idi Amin dada But later after the down fall of him its name was restored  Called after the mighty Murchison Falls  a key attraction in the national park. The park area is placed at an altitude between 615m-1187m above sea level

Murchison Falls National Park comprises of grasslands, wooded Savannah, tropical forest, rivers and marshy swampy areas an amalgamation of the habitats provides home to a number of animal species, these include big cats like Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, Jackson Harte beasts, Oribi, Warthogs, Hippos, Waterbucks, Bush bucks. Boat trip

Boat cruise to the bottom of the falls is a popular activity best done in the afternoon hours, but also takes place from 8:00am it presents an opportunity to view the dense game and bird species of the national park, along the banks of the Nile are hippos, Nile crocodiles, Water bucks, on a lucky day you might be chanced to see the rare Shoebill stock in the marshy swampy areas. While at the bottom of the falls one has a chance to hike to the top of the falls, or return to the dock and drive to the top of the falls due to the high volumes of water levels

Rhino Tracking

The big five of the wild (loins, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, Rhino), the rhino can be seen along the way to national park at the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary in Nakasongola district, it is the only place in Uganda to find Rhinos and are typically tracked on foot. Visits to the conservation area can be combined in order to have a better experience.
